The temporal directions of SWB were studied from the ten happiest waste pickers of Payatas, Quezon City after being pre-screened from a random sample of 300 waste pickers. Using multiple case study cross analyses, three male waste pickers have an upward temporal orientation and identified their SWB factors as: family bonding and social support, leadership in work, and marriage and mixed family. Three female waste pickers have also an upward SWB direction and identified their SWB factors as personal values such as: faith as in God, self-determination, hard work for academic achievement, resiliency with hope and positive emotions. Two female waste pickers have a downward temporal orientation and have issues of a broken marriage and family and single parenting. Two male waste pickers in their late middle adulthood show a stable temporal direction of their SWB which confirms the Self- Theory of Subjective Change Model by Keyes (2000) and the Hedonic Adaptation Theory (Brickman, 1971). Thus the 3P Model by Durayappah (2010) and the Self-Change Model by Keyes (2000) are both confirmed in this study which uses time as the basic component of SWB and posits that, in order to sustain and amplify well-being, a network of well-being must grow within and through temporal states. 2016-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_masteral/5269 Master's Theses English Animo Repository
