Human capital represents the productive capacity of the economy's labor force. As such, its development plays a critical role in economic growth. However, studies suggest that while the Philippine economy is rich in labor, its development is disregarded or is non- existent. The handmade jewelry industry in the country has been around for quite a while, but has been largely informal despite several government programs encouraging owners to legitimize their businesses. This research aims to delve into the human capital development in the handmade jewelry industry to develop an understanding of how education, health and wellness, previous work experience, and the environment contribute to how the employers and employees become active and productive members of the labor force in the Philippine market.
