Description
Summary:Landslide is a hazard that subjects properties to destruction, which may be induced or triggered by immense rain or earthquake. During calamities, landslides are prevalent to Baguio City due to its topography. Lack of information and warning system regarding rainfall puts a challenge to decrease casualties and losses. The study evaluated portion of the Carabao Mountain in Baguio City with consideration to rainfall induced landslide incorporated with land use. The infiltration of rainwater adds to the load carried by the soil in the form of saturation. The study determines the initial factor of safety of the slopes based on the Mohr-Columb failure criteria parameters with the aid of Slope/W. The two external factors are assessment additive tools which was added to the factor of safety of the soil. Those were applied to obtain the general factor of safety which was used in generating the susceptibility maps. Using different scenarios, the different factors of safety was established and underwent regression analysis to create the assessment additive tools. It turns out that the highest decrease in factor of safety are 0.39 and 0.054 for land use impact and saturation of soil, respectively. The general factor of safety indicates that as the degree of saturation of soil increases, the moderate susceptible area increases, and some are close to high susceptible degree with factor of safety close to a value of 1, which is located at residential zone. Possible addition of loading may decrease further the factor of safety which will cause landslide.
