However, empirical findings suggest that extrinsic compared to intrinsic goals detriment well-being. This study extended these findings to determine if extrinsic goal may be prevalent and is causing negative effect among Filipino adolescents vitality. The study also confirms if relatedness satisfaction mediates the relationship. Five hundred seventeen (N=517) adolescents (ages 11-20) were asked to answer aspiration index, BPN scale, and subjective vitality scale. Results revealed that Filipino adolescents give more importance on intrinsic over extrinsic goals. Moreover, extrinsic goals were not detrimental since they are grounded on intrinsic motives. Lastly, no mediational relationship among the variables was found. Differences between genders and among adolescent developmental stages were also analyzed.
