Summary: | Project monitoring and reporting of public infrastructure are essential not only on delivering the desired output to the public, but also to the overall development of a country. With right, accurate, and effective program to facilitate the overall implementation of these projects, the management can improve the operation of these projects.
This study will evaluate the monitoring and reporting program of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on projects implemented by Bicol Region. Bicol region is one of the regions with the largest number of projects implemented for FY 2016. For December 2016 Status Report, Bicol Region ranks at 4th place with the overall accomplishment of 55.63%. Using a survey as a tool for the evaluation, the intended respondents are from the contractors and monitoring engineers of Bicol Region, and monitoring engineers of the DPWH-Central Office. The result showed that monitoring and reporting program of the DPWH was seen as an effective tool to assess the current monitoring and reporting capability of the leading engineering arm of the government. With strict compliance to existing policies and guidelines issued by the Department, transparent monitoring and reporting of public infrastructures in the country is a good indicator of good governance by the current administration and guaranteeing the public that the desired objective of all public infrastructures in the country be obtained. |
