An action research on improving the accuracy and timeliness of income reporting for international assignment cross reporting repository (IACRR) for Company ABC mobility tax

The issues addressed in this AR project are the inaccuracies and delays in the International Assignment Cross Reporting Repository (IACRR) for ABC corporation mobility tax operations. The objectives of the project were to improve the time in the preparation and review of the IACRR report from 3- 5 days to 1 day or less and to reduce the number of inaccurate data in the IACRR report to 0.01%. The AR project adopted lean six sigma methodology as its conceptual framework and Lewins change management model to manage the changes in the process. In the first AR cycle the team conducted advance excel training, created an automated spreadsheet and set target deadlines in completing and submitting the report. The second AR cycle the team collaborated with our company's business development team to create an automated tool that reduced the amount of time in preparing the report while achieving 95% accuracy in the data input. After completing AR cycle 2 we were able to achieve the goals we have set from the beginning of the project. Preparation and review of the report was reduced to 30 minutes with 0 defects. After the completion of the project we recommend that the automated tool be used as part of the desk stop procedure in the preparation of the IACRR report. We recommend that this tool be used in other processes that involve reporting employee information and large data input.
