The first stage in travel demand forecasting is trip generation that consists of the processes to estimate trip production and trip attraction of a traffic analysis zone. Trip attraction identifies the number of trips attracted by the various activity centers in the trip analysis zone. In the city of Dagupan, the schools and malls are observed to be the major trip generators that have significant impact on the increase of person trips and vehicle trips along their specific zones. The main objective of this study is to quantify the trips attracted to schools and malls in Dagupan City. The specific objectives of this study are the following: to determine the socio-economic and urban travel characteristics of people going to malls and schools in Dagupan City, to quantify the daily trips attracted to major traffic attractors in Dagupan City, to determine and estimate the peak period trips going to malls and schools, to determine the transport mode used by the respondents going to schools and malls, and to determine the trip attraction rates of schools and malls in the city of Dagupan. Descriptive and basic statistical analyses were used to analyze the data. Based from the salient findings of the study, the following are concluded: The person trips entering schools and malls belong to the low income family and are coming outside the city of Dagupan. Peak hour volume of trips attracted to school is observed from 7:30 to 8:30 in the morning and 12:30 to 1:30 in the afternoon, and the peak hour volume for trips going to the mall area 11:30 to 12:30 in the morning and from 4:30 to 5:30 in the afternoon. Pedestrians going to schools and malls prefer jeepney as their mode of transportation. The trip attraction rate for the school shows that the smaller the lot area and total gross floor area, the larger trip rate is produced while the lesser the classroom the larger the trip rate is produced. For the mall, the larger the area of the mall the larger the trips are produced. 2017-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_masteral/5781 Master's Theses English Animo Repository Traffic estimation--Philippines--Dagupan City Trip generation--Philippines--Dagupan City Traffic engineering--Philippines--Dagupan City Choice of transportation--Philippines--Dagupan City
