This study determines the level of physical and dietary behavior influencing the assessment of health status, risk to hypertension and stroke among selected university in Metro Manila. The study also describes the personal characteristics, family health history and level of knowledge on hypertension and stroke affecting the level of physical and dietary behavior. A purposive non-probability sampling was utilized for the selection of 100 students and the following criteria are students with an age 18-24 years old and enrolled in 2nd trimester, AY 2016-2017. A quantitative study was used in data gathering. A descriptive and inferential statistics were applied for the analysis of the study. Most of the students were young adolescent, females, living with their parent/s with family income of 21, 000 pesos and above. Most of the students of School A are taking up health-related courses and non-related health courses in School B. Most of the students also have a family history of hypertension among their fathers, mothers, siblings, grandparents, aunts/uncles and cousins. Few of them have a family stoke history among their fathers, mothers, grandparents, aunts/uncles and cousins. Larger proportions of the students have a high level of knowledge on hypertension and stroke in terms of its nature, cause, prevention and treatment. Students engage moderately in physical activity in terms of its type of physical activity, frequency of physical activity and reasons for physical activity. Students have a high level of dietary behavior in terms of its type of diet, frequency of food consumption and reasons for food consumption. Majority of students considered their health status to be good. Large proportions of the students considered themselves not at risk to hypertension and stroke. In conclusion, some of the components of the personal characteristics of the students and level of knowledge on hypertension influence their level of physical and dietary behavior. Furthermore, the physical and dietary behavior influences the students assessment of health status. Moreover, students exhibit good physical activity and dietary habits and tend them not to perceive themselves at risk to hypertension and stroke. Henceforth, the researcher proposes variant recommendations for the implementation and further research on the physical and dietary behavior affecting their assessment of health status and risk to hypertension and stroke. 2017-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_masteral/5801 Master's Theses English Animo Repository College students--Philippines--Metro Manila--Health aspects Health Health surveys--Philippines--Metro Manila
