Summary: | This paper was about the inquiry into what HRM meant for HRD heads in 20 technical vocational education colleges in Fuzhou, Fujian province, China. It was also a survey of the practices they do to carry out HRM. It examined the conceptions of HRM by the heads of HRDs and how these conceptions may be consistent with or have influence on HRM practices in technical vocational education in selected technical vocational colleges in Fuzhou. In this regard, this research essentially aimed at exploring perspectives on two dimensions: (1) Meaning of HRM’s and (2) Practice of HRM. The HRM practice in technical vocational colleges in Fuzhou, Fujian in China can be classified into seven spheres: planning, recruitment, selection and socialization, trade unionmanagement relationships, training and development, motivation, performance appraisal and compensation, rewards and recognition. Meanwhile, the study utilized the descriptive-comparative method of research. The systematic way of gathering information used was a HRM Checklist. The survey would help leaders and managers in technical vocational education colleges to clarify the meaning of HRM as economic and social reforms are being implemented in China. It described the meaning and practice of HRM in Fuzhou, Fujian of China. |
