The thesis ―Barangay 681: A Partner in the Implementation of R.A. 9003‖ was written by Haidee C. Lee in partial compliance for the fulfillment of the MBA-JD program of DLSU-FEU Institute of Law. It determined the extent to which Republic Act 9003, specifically the provisions on waste segregation, recycling and composting, is being implemented by the households in Barangay 681. The study was focused on households within Barangay 681 only. A specially drafted survey form was used for this study. The researcher utilized the nonexperimental non-probability method through purposive sampling. The researcher was able to persuade 30 households to participate in the study. The researcher was able to determine that only 37% of the participating households practices waste segregation. This shows that there is low compliance rate in the barangay. The study was also able to determine the reasons why R.A. 9003 is not being implemented by the participating households, namely: non-enforcement by the proper barangay officials of the law, inconvenience and requires additional costs. The researcher submitted the following recommendations: Barangay Level Constitute the Barangay Solid Waste Management Committee Conduct intensive information campaigns Assign a solid waste manager for each block Conduct a solid waste characterization study Impose solid waste management fees Enact a barangay ordinance National Level Provide adequate and proper incentives to compliant LGUs Increase the penalties provided under RA 9003 Provide a higher penalty for local government officials as well as officials in government agencies charged with the implementation and enforcement of R.A. 9003. 2011-03-01T08:00:00Z text application/pdf https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_masteral/6138 https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/context/etd_masteral/article/13002/viewcontent/CDTG004934_P.pdf Master's Theses English Animo Repository Refuse and refuse disposal—Philippines—Manila Environmental Studies Place and Environment
