The Philippines ranks number seven (7) among all Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) host countries in terms of the most number of registered CDM projects. Although doing relatively well along with other ASEAN countries, the abundant nature of the country’s natural resources point to the capacity of the Philippines to further improve its CDM standing Interviews with experts reveal the primary hindrances or the obstacles faced by the Philippine businesses in a more active participation in CDM activities. The improvement of the participation of Philippine businesses in CDM endeavors will be sought through a legislative agenda, specifically through a recommendation of amendments to the recently released Implementing Rules and Regulations for the Renewable Energy Law.
