Description
Summary:The thesis was to design the configuration of a novel antenna, simulate, construct, and test and measure by experiment its performance and correlate the output data for approximate relationship of the antenna parameters being considered. A new element – called concentrator – was introduced. EZNEC+ v5.0 was used as the simulation software. Test and measurement instruments included ICOM IC-U82 transceiver, HP 8920A RF Communications Test Set, and Diamond SX-400 SWR Meter. Three performance parameters – SWR, impedance, and gain – were considered. The results were tabulated and graphed in relation to separation of the loops and length of the concentrator. No statistical tool software was used to analyze and interpret the data. Best configuration of the hybrid dual quad loop (H2QL) antenna was given including the mathematical relationship between the three performance parameters, the length of the concentrator and the separation of the loop. Further studies were recommended on other variants and configurations with wire reflector.
