This paper is an insider action research on iproving GADC's contracting and procurement group's onboarding process to help new hires reduce their ramp up time and help them become productive members of the team more quickly. This action research did not follow the traditional sequential action research cycles, but instead has one main cycle and a cycle within that main cycle. The main cycle revolves around the creation of an onboarding kit while the cycle within the main cycle focuses on obtaining through third person inquiry. In this action research, it was discovered that the onboarding best practices, such as pacing the onboarding and partnering the newbie with a buddy, was applicable for CPG. It was also discovered in this research that building the right relationships is more important than dumping information onto the newbie as majority of an organization's knowledge resides in its people (Parlse & Cross, 2005). In the course of this action research, the action researcher realized that he had an ego when he first started in his new career. Because of this, he would exhaust all other resources before asking help from others to avoid being perceived as ignorant and incompetent which results in a slower ramp up journey. In the broader context, other organizations can use this action research to change their hiring mindset to give candidates with little to no work experience a chance at their desired career path as effective onboarding programs can help these candidates become more effective and productive members of a team faster with a shorter ramp up time. 2019-10-14T07:00:00Z text application/pdf https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_masteral/6437 https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/context/etd_masteral/article/13472/viewcontent/BALAGTAS_BRYAN_IAR_IMPROVING_MCDONALDS_SCM_CPG_S_ONBOARDING_.pdf Master's Theses English Animo Repository Employee orientation Employees—Training of Human Resources Management Training and Development |
