Description
Summary:Being socially responsible requires total commitment to oneself, others and the environment. Since the age of industrialization and modernization, economic growth has led to the world’s financial stability. Whilst industrial growth has provided the world’s economy to grow, it has been neglecting its effects to the environment and its people. With the rapid effects seen in the environment, the business landscape has shifted its direction from being purely profit-driven to a socially responsible business organization considering the 3 P’s (profit, people and planet). “Action research focuses on research in action, rather than about action” (Coghlan & Brannick, 2014). This action research is about improving the current water lily livelihood training program of the Villar Sipag foundation aimed at providing a sustainable livelihood to the Las Piñas community most especially the poor and marginalized families living in barangay Captain Albert Aguilar (CAA). Guided by the principles made by the scholars in action research from constructing, planning, implementing and evaluating, the team have successfully implemented the changes which resulted to enriching the lives of the participants from the CAA community. The improved training program did not only provide income to the marginalized families, but it also improved their whole-being acting as medium in communicating to its fellow citizen the continued promotion of the foundation’s advocacy on ecologically sustainable livelihood. According to Baker A. J.(nd), “Vision without action is merely a dream. Action without vision just passes the time. Vision with action can change the world.” Going beyond what is expected of you is the truest form of customer service-oriented activity.
