Summary: | The study aimed to create a probabilistic liquefaction potential map for Metro Manila. The soil data came from approximately 1000+ borehole data logs which were then interpolated by means of the Kriging method. The output can be used to provide details needed in the national structural code of the Philippines. It would not only show the type of soil beneath the site but also the corresponding coefficients that are in line with the soil data. Data on earthquakes would also be provided. This includes the most probable earthquake magnitude from a specific distance that could trigger liquefaction in the area of interest and also the possible ground motion it would cause. This would also show the different source type and distance of active faults that are near the area of interest, all of which are also needed for structural design in accordance to the NSCP. Lastly, the main focus on liquefaction potential where it would show the probability of liquefaction occurring by combining the different probabilities from both earthquake opportunity and liquefaction susceptibility. All these were intended for the benefit of the local government especially in their current development of the Geohazard Mapping Assessment Program. |
