Description
Summary:This study aims (1) to state the background and the present set-up of the St. Paul College of Manila (2) to determine the financial capability of St. Paul College of Manila to pursue a program of fringe benefits (3) to show the kinds of fringe benefits being granted to the employees (4) to present the underlying principles and policies governing each of the fringe benefits and (5) to present the different factors that influence the grant of fringe benefits. The data and materials used in the study were taken from school administrative records, annuals, books, pamphlets, periodicals, unpublished theses and other pertinent documents that had direct or indirect bearings to this study. Researches and interviews were also conducted. The personnel in the employ of the St. Paul College of Manila deserved additional emoluments for their services, as is demanded by the need to build, maintain and improve human relations for mutual aggrandizement. The program of fringe benefits for employees of St. Paul College Manila was predicated on the basis of an assurance of fair treatment of every employee which will go a long way in developing better and stronger employee-management relations. The program was developed to provide effective, continuous, and planned assistance to employees. To effectively carry out this program, the following recommendations were proposed in this study: 1. The Cost of Living Bonus and the Insurance Plan must be immediately implemented. 2. The employees must be fully informed on how the Program operates and in this respect, a handbook could be used to acquaint employees with regard to the aims, policies and procedures in granting fringe benefits, as well as the extent to which St. Paul College of Manila may go in granting future benefits. 3. A committee composed of a chairman and four members must be formed to function as a body whose duties and responsibilities it will be to decide and make recommendations on matters affecting employee fringe benefits. The chairman and the two members must come from management, while the other two members must come from the employees. 4. A strong and harmonious relationship must be the mutual goal of both employees and management. In this respect, management must accept its responsibilities to employees by effecting sound and fair employment practices, and that employees must know their rights and privileges, as well as their duties and responsibilities to management.
