This study aims to propose an expansion of the group counseling service of the College Department of Silliman University. Descriptive research was the method used in this study. The data were gathered through survey questionnaire, library research, lectures, discussions, observations, and the experiences of the researcher while coordinating the group counseling service of Silliman University when it was started. The subjects of the study were the participants in group counseling during the first semester of the school year 1973-74. The findings of the study indicated that the students need help in their academic, social, and interpersonal adjustment. It was also found that the existing group counseling service was significantly helping those students who were participating. However, the students of other colleges were not reached because of the seeming weakness of the system and procedure of recruitment. The service was also inadequately staffed to be able to expand its services. Also, the service had been operating with only one type of group counseling model. The proposal designed in this study sought to reach and serve more students, and instead of one type of group, three types were proposed, namely, group guidance, group counseling, and encounter group. The findings of this study strongly pointed the need for the group counseling service to expand in order to be consistent with the goals and objectives of the university in general and the Guidance and Counseling Services in particular. 1974-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_masteral/269 Master's Theses English Animo Repository Group guidance in education Silliman University (Philippines) Counseling
