Description
Summary:Because of the growing importance of research in many fields of modern man's endeavors, the writer strongly believes that the subject on probability should be included in high school mathematics courses. If we take into account the trend of our times in dealing with statistics and probabilities in many fields such as engineering, manufacturing, research work, science studies, and insurance business, we will feel strongly that our students, at least those in fourth year high school, must be introduced to and be enlightened in the meaning and applications of probability. A proposed course on probability with lessons, discussions, illustrative examples and exercises on sample spaces and events, meaning and interpretation of probability, empirical probability, permutations, combinations, probability and combinatorial analysis, probability of mutually exclusive events and probability of independent and dependent events were presented in this study.
