This study aims to survey the students' needs and propose a group counseling program as part of the services of the guidance program at Philippine Union College. The respondents of this study were drawn from the total number of freshman students who enrolled at Philippine Union College for the first semester of the school year 1974-75. The instruments used in this study were the Questionnaire for a psychological study of religious attitudes and Habits adopted from Elineema (1972) and the Mooney problem checklist, form C by Mooney and Gordon (1950). There were 100 respondents to the Questionnaire for a Psychological Study of Religious Attitudes and Habits, and 123 respondents to the Mooney Problem Checklist. Findings of the study indicated that the respondents generally showed favorable attitudes towards the different items included in the questionnaire. However, their responses expressed the need for them to be clarified on Bible interpretation, Bible inspiration, Christian marriage, and other issues. The respondents were actively engaged in some religious activities such as going to church, praying, reading the Bible, taking communion, giving alms and offerings, and tithe paying. The findings of the survey of the problems encountered by freshman students strongly pointed to their need for help in their academic, social, and interpersonal difficulties. The proposed group counseling program would not only supplement the services offered by the Guidance Services, it would also benefit the students in their adjustment to the college environment. 1975-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_masteral/328 Master's Theses English Animo Repository Educational counseling Students--Psychology Philippine Union College (Philippines) Counseling |
