A school long-range plan concerns itself with the determination of goals, and major strategies for achieving these goals. A necessary step to planning is an assessment of the present situation : both the external environment influencing the school, and the internal resources and operations making up the school. In an attempt to provide the Planning and Development Office of Silliman University with the basic data necessary for planning, an analysis of the existing situation of a particular college, the college of Business Administration was made. The study is an in-depth analysis of a college rather than a surface study of all the colleges, which make up the school. Such college studies will later on provide the framework upon which a University long-range plan will be made. Among the reasons why the College of BBA was chosen are : 1) It accounts for 22% of the total college enrollment of the university, the rest being divided among seven other degree programs in Silliman University, and 2) the college is reputed to be the one of the weak colleges among those offering degrees in the University. By coming-up with a study of the college, facts may be discovered as to the reasons for the said reputation, and improvements may be made to remove such a reputation. Descriptive research is the method used in this study. Library research as well as interviews with experts in the subject provided the theoretical framework of educational planning. For the financial operations of the college, an estimate of its income and expenses was made based on the figures provided by the Business and Finance office. General administrative, general institutional and student services expenses were prorated based on the percentage of BBA full-time equivalent students over total university enrollment for each year. The performance of the college was compared with the total university performance by means of percentages. For planning purposes, financial figures for a certain semester were recast in a program budget to find out instructional cost per student in a particular degree and major. The program budget as used in this study made use of an induced course load matrix and a cost estimation model to arrive at approximate costs of each degree and major. With the data revealed by the study, specific recommendations were made which are significant parameters upon which planning for the college will be based. 1976-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_masteral/364 Master's Theses English Animo Repository Business education Silliman University College of Business Administration (Philippines) Educational Assessment, Evaluation, and Research
