Description
Summary:This study aims to assess the needs of the students for career counseling and determine the availability of human and material resources to meet these needs. This study also proposes a program based on the needs and available resources of the school and community. Survey questionnaires were sent to teachers and students, and a correlation study of the available test materials with the students' expressed career choice was conducted. It was found that there was a need for an organized assistance in career-decision making process as evidenced by the results of the survey questionnaires and of the implications gathered from the statistical study. Also, the use of the existing testing service could be expanded and channeled into career counseling purposes. For an effective career counseling program, the following services were found to be essential: information, testing, placement, and evaluation services. It was concluded that an appropriate career counseling program necessitated the students' understanding of their career self in relation to the world of work. The proposed career counseling program (Tri-dimensional Model) facilitated the student's self-understanding and provided systematic procedures of going through a career decision-making process.
