The author tried to gauge the awareness of the high school students and the grade school students towards their respective guidance services and to determine which services need strengthening. The samples were the following: 605 out of 915 all year levels represented, 419 out of 527 enrolled in V - VII grades were represented, 5 members of the administration 25 high school faculty, 25 grade school faculty, 80 parents and 110 grade school parents. After gathering data with the use of questionnaires, interviews, and library techniques in analyzing and interpreting the results with the help of different devices of percentage and the chi-square, the writer came up with the following conclusions : According to the results of the Students Inventory, several areas do not provide enough guidance to adequately equip the students for the future. An examination of the objectives and programs of the guidance services revealed that they have been accurately formulated and planned to meet students needs. There is, however, some gap between the planning and the implementation of these services and programs. The students are greatly interested in the results of their test and would like more efficient tabulating and collating as well as individual interpretation of test results. The students would like more group counseling as shown in the many comments and suggestions. This would foster more rapport between them and the teachers, the faculty and their parents. Regarding the attitudes of the administrators, the faculty and the parents towards the guidance program, the results revealed that they see the necessity and importance of a guidance program and are all in favor of the continuance of the guidance program of both departments. However, the parents would like a keener awareness of the existing program. The administrators, the faculty and the parents have shown great interest in the test results and interpretations, a service they would like the guidance personnel to reactivate and to function effectively and efficiently. And the recommendations were : 1) Study and restructure administrator-personnel relationship in order to promote better relationship and ensure more solidarity. 2) Make functional existing family consultation and cooperation program by bringing and involving the Family Councils of both Grade School and High School. More sessions, conferences and meeting with parents, faculty and students should be held during the school year. 3) Plan a more efficient testing program that will meet the demands of the students and parents. They should also be immediately implemented in order to serve their purpose before the end of the school year. 4) Intensify the group counseling program. 5) Activate the Career-Guidance Program. 6) Work on Student-Counselor relationship and counselor availability. Coordinate with the administrators and principals for more flexible schedules. 1975-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_masteral/378 Master's Theses English Animo Repository Educational counseling Counseling Educational Assessment, Evaluation, and Research |
