The respondents involved in the study were thirty-four working student graduates and thirty-four non-working student graduates of the Holy Trinity Academy during the period from school year 1959-1960 to 1969-1970. The descriptive characteristics of the respondents were determined by a bio-data questionnaire, which elicited information on educational, economic and personal characteristics. The present socio-economic status of the respondents was determined by a three-part SES index, which included the educational attainment, occupational status, and income level. The instrument used for measuring the degree of adherence to the specific values (social acceptance, social mobility, moral responsibility and moral quality), was a value scale designed and used by the Secretariat of the Association of Catholic Universities of the Philippines (ACUP) which was made up of twenty hypothetical conflict and non-conflict situations to which the respondents expressed agreement or disagreement on a five-point continuum scale. So as to present an accurate and useful picture of the data, the measures of central tendency and variability of dispersion of the scores of the respondents on each of the four specific values were computed. Then, the two main groups (thirty-four working student graduates and thirty-four non-working student graduates) were further grouped into sub-groups according to educational level, namely: sub-groups with college education and sub-groups with high school or some college education. The t test were made to reveal something about the differences in mean age, mean G.P.A. and mean scores on the four specific values between the paired sub-groups. The Cochran-Cox t-test was used to test the null hypothesis that the GPA of the working student graduates do not differ from those of the non-working student graduates. On the other hand, to test the null hypothesis on the relationship between the present socio-economic status of the respondents and their adherence to the four specific values and to be able to describe more objectively the extent to which the two sets of variables are associated, the Goodman-Kruskal Gamma coefficient was computed for each case. 1977-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_masteral/422 Master's Theses English Animo Repository Students--Psychology Students--Philippines--Social conditions Social Psychology
