This is a correlation study of the effects of curriculum changes, particularly the number of units of board subjects and non-board subjects, and the results of the Board Examination. There are two principal sources of information for this report : 1. the Philippine Regulation Commission (PRC) and 2. the Registrar's Office of the Mapua Institute of Technology. All the data gathered from both offices were then computed, classified and tabulated for study and analysis. Based on the statistical analysis of the data obtained in this report, the writer concluded that the changes in the curriculum (in terms of the number of units offered) do not significantly affect the results of the board exams (in terms of percentage passing, and the highest rating obtained). This can serve as a encouraging basis for the proposal to revert the 5-year curriculum to 4 years. This is of course under the assumption that the result of the board examination is a valid estimator of success and competence in the Chemistry profession. It is therefore recommended that corollary to this study, the correlation between success and competence in the profession and the results of the board exams be made a subject of research.
