A proposed Christian growth program for Santa Maria de Fatima Parish of Jakarta, Indonesia

This study investigates the socio-psychological characteristics of the parishioners in Santa Maria de Fatima Parish towards a proposal for their growth program. The study is descriptive in nature. The survey method is used to gather the data. One hundred forty-five respondents were selected through stratified random sampling from a total of 1,434 parishioners. Frequency distribution, percentage and means were employed to analyze and interpret data. From the findings, a Christian growth program suggests means to revise their parish activities including the four phase program and guidance services like individual or group counseling, information, evaluation and training services. This program is aimed to improve the parish. From the results of the study the following conclusions were set forth: 1. the interpersonal relationship of the parishioners in terms of their knowing each other, caring for one another and sharing with one another is in the middle level due to their heterogeneity in the community 2. in general, most of the parishioners are not satisfied with their present parish activities 3. most of the parishioners are not satisfied with their lack of skills 4. the parishioners are aware of their poor conditions, having inadequate facilities in the parish 5. the majority of the parishioners expressed their need for a professional counselor to help them solve their community problems.
