The study seeks to evaluate the High School guidance services of St. Scholastica's College with the end view of using the evaluation as a basis for making recommendations for future improvement. The findings of the study were based largely on the Guidance Evaluation Questionnaire to students, parents, teachers, and administrators on the 2nd week of February, 1978. The random sampling included 408 students whose parents were also selected as respondents which was based on the 50 percent random sampling taken from the Table of Random Numbers, on the book Behavioral Statistics by Runyr and Habers (1968). It is also to be noted that for each year level, 50 percent of the students and parents were selected as respondents. The instruments used were questionnaires of teachers and administrators for parents, for students, problem checklist, interviews, documents and other records. Fifty percent or more are the representative for teachers and administrators. The author found out in her study that the guidance services seem to be adequately meeting the needs and problems of the students in the light of the changing times. Students, teachers and parents have indicated various areas in which the counselors have assisted them. Moreover, the administrators, teachers and the respective guidance counselors are performing their guidance work satisfactorily. It is believed that the people involved in the functioning of the guidance activities can work to the maximum in servicing their students if a proposed in-service training program for teachers is conducted. It is for the purpose of better guidance suggestions and recommendations on how students can be helped to the maximum. It could also increase teachers' awareness and orientation in guidance. Some of the recommendations were as follows: 1) A proposed in-service training program for teachers should be conducted for a better guidance knowledge on how to handle problems of students and to gather suggestions and recommendations on how students can be helped to the maximum. This program could also increase teachers' awareness and orientation on guidance. 2) It is evident that the school should provide more guidance literature and information for the purpose of gaining more and better understanding of guidance. Guidance materials should meet the needs of administration, teachers, counselors, and students. 3) A possibility of an in-service training program for parents should be looked into the near future. This will surely entail more functional guidance program. 4) A full-hearted support and cooperation of the administration is very necessary. This is to minimize and solve the pressing problems of the school which guidance is presently beset with. Only then will the program function to its fullest, therefore, making it more effective. 1978-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_masteral/707 Master's Theses English Animo Repository Educational counseling St. Scholastica's College (Philippines) Counseling Educational Assessment, Evaluation, and Research
