Lourdes, RVM This study presents a survey of adolescent problems of two groups of high school senior girls to whom were given the Mooney Problem Check List. It is the aim of the study to find out the problems which interfere with their moral, social, emotional and educational adjustments in order to give teachers and administrators a better understanding of those problems and needs of the students. Two hundred senior girls attending high school in school year 1966-1967 were included in the sampling. The subjects were divided into two groups, namely group A and group B, and were chosen at random from a private Catholic institution and a public high school, respectively. From the results of the survey administered and the analysis of the data gathered, the following conclusions have been arrived at: 1. The study reveals that the adjustment problems particularly on the moral, social, emotional and educational areas are almost identical for the subjects of both groups. However, in the comparative analysis of the serious problem areas, Finance, Living Conditions and Employment was second as identified by the public school group whereas the private school group had Social Psychological Relations as their second serious problem area. 2. The wide range of adolescent problems shown in this study calls attention to the need for providing better conditions for growing, group discussions of common problems, and counseling that will help individual see more clearly one's most acceptable self. 3. The problems identified by the subjects suggest the following: a. The inclusion of mental hygiene in the curriculum is a necessity as evidenced by the psychological problems revealed by the subjects. b. Data gathered from areas on school adjustment will serve as basis for newer developments in the curriculum. c. The feeling of social inadequacy common to the high school students suggests the need for more participation in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. d. The language difficulty prevalent among the high school students is an 1967-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_masteral/711 Master's Theses English Animo Repository Students--Psychology High school students Educational Psychology
