This study proposes a Religion Training Program for the Lay Faculty of Pilar College based on their needs and difficulties in teaching Religion. This study made use of the descriptive survey method. A questionnaire to find out the needs and difficulties of teachers in teaching religion was developed. The questionnaire had parts which dwelt on needs in terms of content and methodology. There was a part on specific teaching difficulties. Another part of the questionnaire asked the teachers to write studies and/or training made available to them to equip them in their teaching of religion. To ascertain some degree of religious knowledge and attitudes, the religious knowledge and attitudes Test constructed and validated by Father Luke Moortgat, CICM was administered to the respondents. The coefficient of correlation was computed and the result was further tested with the t-test. On the strength of the findings, the study concluded that the needs and difficulties of teachers arise from their inadequate foundation in religion courses and that the initial training given them or made available to them were insufficient. Findings on the relationship of religion knowledge and religious attitude between teachers who have had formal religious training and those who have none supports the conviction that formal training can increase and enhance growth in religious knowledge and religious attitude. The positive significant relationship between religious knowledge and religious attitude to God and the Church prove that one's knowledge affects his behavior and similarly, one's behavior affects his attitudes. Since the empirical data show the lay faculty's inadequacy in teaching Religion, the need to undergo training geared toward the formation of teachers in contemporary catechetics urgently comes to the surface. A Religious Training Program for the Faculty of Pilar College is considerably expedient. Hence, it is strongly proposed that such program be provided for them to equip them better in teaching Religion. 1979-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_masteral/748 Master's Theses English Animo Repository Teachers--In-service-training Teachers--Training of--Philippines--Pilar College Religion Training and Development
