The purpose of the study is to make a cost analysis of the various degree programs of the Isabela State University at Echague, for the school year 1979-1980, which are: agriculture agricultural education, agricultural business agricultural engineering forestry and home technology. It also involves the cost analysis of the post secondary agricultural technician program. Specifically, it sought to answer the following questions: 1) What is the total cost of instruction in each degree program? 2) What is the cost of instruction per full-time student in each degree program? 3) What is the total cost of instruction in each discipline? 4) What is the cost of instruction per student in each discipline? 5) How much is the government subsidy per full-time student per degree program per year? 6) What is the implication of this study on the financial and program planning of the institution? The study involves a review of the past records of the school. The Planning, Programming, Budgeting System (PPBS) approach was used in gathering and analyzing the data to determine the cost of instruction. Data were gathered from the Budget, Accounting and Registrar’s Offices. Three units of measure were used namely: 1) Weekly Student Contact Hours (WSCH), for allocating the budget and prorating the expenditures, 2) total number of students enrolled under each discipline, as basis for computing the cost per student per discipline, and 3) Student Fulltime Equivalent (SFTE) under each degree program, as basis for computing the cost per SFTE under each degree program. Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusions were drawn: 1) That the disciplines with cost per student above the average are home technology, chemistry, post harvest technology, forestry, animal husbandry and bio-science. The discipline with the lowest cost per student is physical education. 2) That the degree programs with cost per full-time student above the average are bachelor of science in home technology and bachelor of science in forestry.
