This study attempts to develop a workbook for basic organic chemistry designed to serve non-chemistry students. This investigation was conducted to determine the effect of the use of the developed workbook on the achievement of non-chemistry majors in Organic Chemistry. The experimental investigation was held at the Philippine Normal College, Taft Avenue, with B.S. Food and Nutrition students as subjects. The experimental group which made use of the workbook was composed of two B.S.F.N. classes enrolled in Organic Chemistry I during the first semester of school year 1983-1984. The control group was made up of two other B.S.F.N. classes which took Organic Chemistry I during the first semester of the preceding school year. Only one instructor handled both groups in the course. The same set of quizzes and chapter examinations was given to the experimental group as with the control group. The achievement levels of both groups were assessed using the lecture grades. The correlation between the use of the workbook and the achievement in Organic Chemistry I of the experimental group was calculated to be 0.426. This correlation was found to be significant at the 0.001 probability level using the t-test. 1984-01-01T08:00:00Z text application/pdf https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_masteral/1035 https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=7873&context=etd_masteral Master's Theses English Animo Repository Chemistry, Organic--Experiments Organic Chemistry
