Summary: | The effects of Gibberellic acid on seed germination, number of nodes, length of stem, leaf area, number of days to flower, number of flowers and number of fruits are investigated following seed irrasiation of bush sitao variety UPL-BS #1. Gibberellic acid treatment significantly affected all the growth parameters examined with increasing (0, 50, 100 and 200 ppm) concentrations whereas seed irradiation exposure at lower doses (0, .025, .05 and .10 KGy) had increased all growth parameters significantly compared to that exposed at 20 KGy. Among the lower doses, .05 KGy exceeded that of control in percentage of seed germination, number of nodes, length of stem and leaf area. The 20 KGy exposure had significantly reduced all growth parameters. From the three treatments (irradiation, GA3 treatment and combination of irradiation and GA3), Gibberellic acid treatment was the most effective. The least effective among them was that of combination of irradiation and GA3 treatment since interaction effects between these two factors significantly affected only during stem elongation. |
