Description
Summary:This study investigates the synthesis of Cadmium-doped Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O (BSCCO) thin films using a single target rf magnetron sputtering machine. A transition temperature (Tc) onset was observed at 132 K and zero resistivity was attained at 117 K for the film sputtered at 500 degrees Centigrade in a mixed argon-oxygen atmosphere and heat treated in flowing argon gas at 750 degrees Centigrade for 72 hours. The X-ray diffraction pattern indicated an almost pure high Tc phase with relatively high c-axis orientation, but with peaks shifted towards lower 20 angle. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) analysis revealed bar-like superconducting crystals were formed.
