The effect of the pore size on the catalytic activity varied with the pore size. The pore size was based on the average pore diameter of the catalyst. The percent CO conversion obtained under conditions of increasing temperature were higher with the bigger pore size than those obtained under the smaller pore size. The results obtained showed that the alumina catalyst with bigger pore size should be considered for carbon monoxide oxidation with oxygen. A series of experimental runs was conducted at the same contact time for two different weights of catalyst of the same pore diameter. The results showed that diffusion limitations controlled the rate of reaction.
