Description
Summary:The study investigates the effectiveness of Bringing Out the Best in the Other (BOBO) in enhancing the quality of marital life. Thirty couples were interviewed. The Quality Marriage Rating Scale was used for selecting three couples of low quality marital life. Two couples were for the experimental groups while one was for the control group. The study used four variables -- one independent and three dependent variables. BOBO was the independent variable. Quality of marriage, marital satisfaction, and interpersonal relationship were the dependent variables. To measure the dependent variables, the couples had three tests. These were given at three times as (1) pretests, (2) posttests, and (3) delayed posttests in the treatment. Four sessions of three quarters an hour each, set the application of the treatment of BOBO. The difference between the pre- and post-test results showed the effectiveness of BOBO. The study revealed positive changes in the experimental couples which remained stable over a month. There were no changes in the control couple during the period. Thus, BOBO and its components were conclusively effective in enhancing the quality of marital life.
