This study aimed to determine the psychological and social dimensions of querida system in Metro Manila and its suburbs. These include the socio-demographic characteristics of selected queridas, the patterns of development of a querida relationship, the perceived characteristics of a querida system, coping mechanisms employed by queridas when faced with problems and, their self perceptions. Twenty selected queridas, who are college educated, belong to middle to upper socioeconomic status, and have been involved or is involved with a married man for at least two years, participated in this study. Findings revealed that queridas can either be single or married, are generally younger than their partners, are generally financially independent, etc. reasons for entering into a relationship may vary from previous relationship dissatisfaction, love, satisfaction of sexual and emotional needs, etc. living arrangements may either be cohabitation or regular visits maintenance and termination may be affected by living arrangements, financial arrangements, presence or absence of children, etc. gains and problems are financial, emotional, sexual, and moral aspects coping is generally through prayers and interaction with people queridas may have some support from friends, relatives, and queridas alike goals and aspirations revolve around the need for peace, good life for children, career and professional advancement and self-concept is both positive and negative brought about by their being a querida.
