Description
Summary:This research is concerned with the methods by which the flow standards used for commercial and industrial purposes shall be related to the country's national primary standards of mass, length, time, temperature, and other relevant basic parameters. This research sets out the procedures for tests on the flow standards and the test facilities used in the calibration station to establish and improve the overall accuracy level of the station. It focuses on the estimation and calculation of the overall calibration uncertainty. The calibration station, which will serve as the Philippine's primary standard, is to be designed, fabricated and evaluated for the calibration of liquid types of flowmeters. The calibration station will use three methods of calibration, namely, the gravimetric, volumetric and comparison. Other components used in the calibration station are fabricated and installed using local materials and skills. The station is limited by the exclusion of material testing and analysis of the parts which the machine and other structural members are made of. Water test analysis and purification, as well as tests of the specific gravity and viscosity of the liquids used in the calibration will not be conducted. This standard is traceable to the international standards of length, mass, time and temperature.
