Staining of leadframes is one of the problems encountered in the Solder plate process (Tin-Lead Plating Process). It occurs when the spray rinse water and neutralizer solutions are acidic. Experiments on the determination of dragout rate of Solderon acid in the plating cell and the effect of dragout of Solderon acid in the pH of spray rinse water and neutralizer were conducted. Dragout is a liquid that is carried along by the material being plated as it transferred from one cell to another. The water from the spray rinse sump tank is originally a re-circulating process and the water supply comes from the used water of hot de-ionized rinse. With this set up, it was found out that the dragout of Solderon acid in the plating cell made the spray rinse water and neutralizer solutions acidic which led to the staining of the leadframes.Re-piping was then proposed to eliminate or minimize staining problems. Experiments on the effect of re-piping on the pH of the spray rinse and neutralizer were also conducted. Data shows that after re-piping, the spray rinse water and neutralizer had maintained their basic levels. As such, re-piping as a means of eliminating or minimizing the staining problem in the leadframes is effective. 1997-05-01T07:00:00Z text application/pdf https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_masteral/1823 https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=8661&context=etd_masteral Master's Theses English Animo Repository Solder and soldering Acids Lead plating Semiconductor industry Tanks Chemical Engineering |
