Description
Summary:This study investigates the relationship of sexual attitude and sexuality comfort of Filipino female adolescents from selected Catholic high schools. It also determines the female adolescents' sources of information on sexuality. One hundred and twenty-five students from exclusive schools for girls with an age range of 15 - 18 participated in this study. The Panukat ng Kaasalang Sekswal (PKS) and Sexuality Comfort Inventory (SCI) were utilized as instruments in this descriptive research. Mean and standard deviation were computed to determine the respondents' profile on sexual attitude and sexuality comfort. Pearson r was used to investigate the relationship of sexuality comfort and the dimensions of sexual attitude such as sexual preference, sexual morality, sexual gratification, sexual motivation, and sexual orientation. Frequency and percentage were used to describe the sources of sexuality information among female adolescents. Significant negative relationships exist between sexuality comfort and the following dimensions of sexual attitude: sexual preference, sexual gratification, and general sexual attitude. There are no significant relationships between sexuality comfort and the following dimensions of sexual attitude: sexual morality, sexual motivation, and sexual orientation. It is recommended that sexuality education be intensified in the Catholic high schools in order to provide clear and factual information about sex and sexuality.
