oai:animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph:etd_masteral-88602021-01-21T06:31:42Z An evaluation of the La Sallete College guidance program Quiros, Josephine Sillos The study evaluates the existing Human Development Center Services of La Salette of Santiago, College Department, using the Stake's Countenance Evaluation Model (Stake 1967).The subject of the study were 247 out of 662 third and fourth year students and 24 out of 39 full-time faculty members as of school yer 1987-88.The study adopted the parallel questionnaires used by the Center for Education and Measurement (CEM) in evaluating Guidance Programs of the different schools nationwide.The following were the findings of the study:1. Both faculty members and student respondents disclosed that the physical facilities of the Guidance office are adequate and very much accessible.2. Majority of both faculty members and students responded that they were aware of the Guidance program.3. Faculty members agreed that the administration supports the office.4. Faculty members responded that they are aware and perform their responsibilities as part of the program.5. Faculty members believe that the Guidance committee is not effective.6. The number of personnel as perceived by the faculty members is not adequate.7. There were more than 50 percent of the student-respondents who have not seen their counselors. If ever they have seen them, not much help has been rendered to them.8. Teachers refer students to the Guidance office for counseling and guidance purposes.9.Student-respondents are aware and have availed of the Testing program of the office. 10. Both faculty members and students disclosed that there are guidance materials available at the office and these materials are recent and useful.11. Both the faculty members and student respondents disclosed that useful and relevant information/data are kept in the Guidance office.12. The Guidance office helps both students and faculty members in various areas of concern.13. Available data and information kept at the Guidance are not extensively utilized especially in the field of research.Based from the findings of the study, the following conclusions were drawn:1. The Human Development Center (HDC) implements its objectives.2. Both student and teacher respondents are very much aware of the Guidance program. Teachers know and perform their responsibilities as part of the program.3. Generally, the services of the Guidance office revealed a commendable performance in the implementation of the Guidance programs. However, other services like, Individual counseling services have not exhaustively served the clientele, and the Referral and Research services were not extensively utilized.4. Guidance materials are available and adequate. These materials are up-dated and useful.5. The physical facilities of the Guidance office are adequate and accessible.6. The members of personnel of the office is not adequate.7. The administration supports the program of the Guidance office.8.
