Leather footwear industry players are not spared from these forces. In fact the industry is very sensitive towards these forces that existing competitors must have in depth knowledge on this and must be ready to face such challenges. Competition in this industry is very stiff because there are a lot of market players. There is also a very big potential for the export market. Shoe manufacturing industry is dependent on another industry which is the leather or tanning industry. The company is Sotera Shoe Manufacturing a leather shoe manufacturing company owned by Mr. Cecilio Nepomuceno who had acquired his expertise from his father. The study will also focus on this company and the industry forces affecting it. Sotera Manufacturing is located in Marikina the undisputed Shoe Capital of the Philippines. Strengths and weaknesses of the firm were analyzed and how these factors make the company sustain its growth for the past 14 years. Also, the companys opportunities and threats were taken into consideration because it is in these areas that the company is affected by outside forces. The company at present has its different strategies applied in the areas of marketing, production, human resource management and finance. The strategies were analyzed based on the critical success factors of a shoe manufacturing firm such as Sotera.
