In the 1960s, the lighters came into circulation as the closest substitute. The Environment For five years starting in 1991, the Philippine economy has been on an upward trend. From a Gross Domestic Product growth of 0.1% in 1991, it reached the 4.9% mark in 1995. The forecast for 1996 is 5.5% by the Asian Development Bank, but as of the third quarter of 1996, it is already 5.3%.
