This paper is a corporate strategic management paper for Glaxo Wellcome Philippines, Inc. It contains corporate strategies based on the opportunities and threats of the industry where the company belongs, and based on the changes that may occur in the environment that may affect the industry. Forces driving competition within the industry were analyzed based on Michael Porters Five Forces. This paper identified the direct competitors of the company using the strategic map of the industry. The companys competitive advantages over the other companies within its strategic group were also identified. Likewise, the value chain of Glaxo Wellcome was analyzed being the source of these value activities that are better than competition and have value to its customers. Aside from opportunities and threats in the environment, the strengths, weaknesses, societal expectations and personal values of the key decision makers of the company were also identified as basis for strategy formulation. Strategies of the company are set to achieve its objectives, thereby realizing also its long term vision because the vision is the basis for its objectives. Functional objectives and strategies were also suggested to support the corporate strategies. Proper implementation of the corporate strategies is also a key for its success, the 7 S framework was used to analyze the effectiveness of Glaxo Wellcomes organization in implementing the strategies.
