Description
Summary:Power line carrier communications is a feasible system for data transmission. This study addresses the design and implementation issues which include modulation scheme, error correction and the choice of the value of the frequency to use considering attenuation and bit error rate.In implementing a PLC system for a simulated micro-hydroelectric power plant for which this study is intended, a number of experiments were performed involving the following: transmitter, receiver, power lines, several sets of modulators and demodulators, error detection an correction circuit, and a computer system with interface unit. The results of the experiments show that there are frequency ranges for which the system will operate satisfactorily.
