(Family Annonaceae) of the Philippines Samson, Maricar S. This thesis studies the morphology and anatomy of twenty-three species of Philippine Goniothalamus. Morphological characters examine include the type of leaves, inflorescence, flowers and fruits but with emphasis on the characteristics of the inner petal, pistil and stamen. Anatomical observations are made on the transverse sections of the petiole and midrib. Based on its morphology, there are four types of leaves, three types of sepals, three types of outer petals, five types of inner petals, seven types of stamens, and six types of pistils. The characteristics of the inner petal, stamen and pistil were found to be taxonomically important as they can be used to identify the genus up to species level. A cluster analysis of its morphological characters showed five groups. Examination of the anatomical characters showed that these could be used to cluster the genus into groups. Based on cluster analysis, the genus can be divided into three groups. Results of the cluster analysis for eleven species with complete morphological and anatomical characters revealed three groups. Group 1 includes G. amuyon var. amuyon, G. amuyon var. ramosii, G. dolichopetalus var basilensis, G. dolichopetalus var. dolichopetalus, G. elmeri var. elmeri, G. elmeri var. gitingensis, and G. epiphyticus. Group 2 includes G. philippinensis var. philippinensis and G. philippinensis var. ramosii. Group 3 includes G. lancifolius and G. obtusifolius. 2000-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_masteral/2288 Master's Theses English Animo Repository Botany--Morphology Plants Annonaceae Botany--Anatomy Anatomy
