They all belong to the financial services industry. The industry is characterized by large capitalization, technology-based products and services, and keen competition brought by the liberalization law and the growing sophistication of customers. PCIBank is a diversified universal bank. Its operations showcase its wide array of products and services and alternative funding options. Its distribution system is one of the largest in the country, and is enhanced by state-of-the-art technology. The professionalism, competence and dedication of its personnel are the envy of the competitors. A big capital base and a sound financial position enable it to reach more market and hold its position in the financial services industry. Despite its strengths, PCIBank is feeling the heat of the competition, as evidenced by its low volume of demand deposits, falling interest rates spread, and decreasing liquidity. The competitive advantages that PCIBank offers the customers are access, privileges, efficient and customer friendly processes, and lasting personal relationship. Some of the present strategies have to be modified, changed, or retained to meet the present needs of the customers and to address the changes in the environment. It should focus on the Asian multinational market, reconfigure existing branches, refocus bank distribution system and continue its technological advancement and at the same time develop the bonds and mutual funds market. Implementation of the strategies will be successful it the corresponding other areas like skills of the people, structure of the organization, systems, the staff, the style of management and the shared value of the people will be likewise upgraded or adjusted, changed, reengineered, improved, developed and envisioned to fit harmoniously.
