Eugen Philippines is a company engaged in the marketing and sales of agricultural products specifically chemicals used in crop protection. Based on environmental analysis, there is a high barrier to entry in the crop protection industry. Rivalry among competitors is intense. There are a few substitute products such as botanical or biological crop protection products. Suppliers include multinational companies that usually have propriety products and some commodity products. Generic companies are increasing. These are companies that manufacture and market crop protection products that have expired patents. Bargaining power of generic product suppliers is relatively lower than that of suppliers for proprietary products. The Philippine operation is financially healthy. It enjoys good support from headquarters. For the past three years performance has been according to target. There are brighter prospects for this year and in the near generally due to the improvements in products technology and optimism that the countrys economy will continue to improve. The company is currently studying and considering on expanding its operations in the Philippines. Its portfolio consists mainly of insecticides for agricultural use. The company has had very small participation in the crop protection business based on industry standards. With recent organizational changes, the company has announced its commitment to participate actively in the crop protection industry of the country and had the vision to help the growers and farmers harvest more of what they plant through effective and environmentally soft crop protection products. The companies goal is to be of the top seven companies in the crop protection business in the Philippines. My proposal is to establish a joint-venture direct distribution company in the Philippines to achieve the companies goal. As a business strategy, the company will continue to adopt differentiation strategy to keep ahead of competition. 1998-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_masteral/2307 Master's Theses English Animo Repository Business Administration, Management, and Operations
