Description
Summary:Torrecarion is a 250-page novel in English, which comprises the first installment of a series of novels tentatively entitled The Education of Datu Manyabog . This novel traces the end of the downfall of the Torrecarion family of Latagon, revolving around the peculiar circumstances surrounding George Torrecarion's death. This masteral thesis includes a process narrative essay detailing the creation of the project and the author's thoughts on the creative process and fiction writing. After suffering what appears to be a nervous breakdown, George Torrecarion holes up on his ancestral farmland, Hacienda Dimas. While undertaking an excavation in one of the farm buildings, he seriously wounds himself. As his foot turns grangrenous, he begins to write a confession explaining his actions. His confession digresses and circles around the topic, and occupies the better part of the time he spends on the farm. His wife Margie, not hearing from him for three months, summons their youngest son Rafael to return to Latagon from Metro Manila and retrieve George from Dimas.
