Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod, established in 1962, is a Catholic School run by the Augustinian Religious Community. It has a population of about five thousand students in all levels, from grade school to the tertiary level. Except for the automated Student Registration-Assessment Application, most of its operations are manual, supported by MS Office Applications. The school administrators have long recognized the importance for Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod to keep abreast with technology and the abundant opportunities that information technology advances can provide to improve its competitive advantage. Adapting to new technology has also serious impact on the business operations. Computerization, without adequate systems planning, results to wasted resources with the resultant acquisition of hardware or software that may prove inadequate or unsuitable to the way the organization operates. Most automated applications developed piecemeal tend to focus on clerical manpower reduction or simply improving operations on a particular area. Data are becoming an important resource that must be managed in order to support organizational operations effectively. Lack of logical data integration is generally the result of the way the systems development has been conducted.Recognizing that information systems should be designed to support overall organizational needs, this study develops a five-year Information System Plan for Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod, identifying systems for development and associated support infrastructure. The Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) Guidelines is used to develop the Information Systems Plan for Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod. CSABIS plan is organized into four major functions and twenty-four applications as follows: Financial Affairs into eight applications: Localized Accounting, Budget, Disbursement and Expenditure, Revenue Monitoring, Payroll, General Accounting, Supplies and Materials Monitoring, and Fixed Assets Applications Human Resource Development into three applications: Personnel Information Management, Faculty Development Resource, Security Management Applications Academic Affairs into twelve applications: Student Affairs, Health Services, Income Generating Projects, Student Resource, Graduate Monitoring, Student Admission/Registration, Placement Tracking, Board Passers Monitoring, Academic Performance Monitoring, Curriculum Evaluation, Curriculum Integration, Faculty Course Load and Library Applications. The plan also calls for the establishment of the Information Technology Services Department as catalyst for changes and establish standards for Information Systems development.
