Description
Summary:The National Statistics Office (NSO), pursuant to its mandate to disseminate data from censuses and surveys have been producing statistical products in the form of publications and electronic data files such as Public Use Files (PUFs). Most of these products contain data in the form of reports of raw data. None of this contain a combination of barangay data, geographic codes, maps and a system to manage these data. NSO at present is not able to provide its clients with this kind of data in the form of a product. This study designs an integrated barangay database as a dissemination product and planning tool for NSO and to develop and implement it in stages. The database will contain barangay data from the 1980, 1990 and 1995 census of population, the Philippine Standard Geographic Codes and the thematic maps of the barangays. An information system to access the database is also included to provide retrieval paths and access to the database. It is recommended that the project be fully implemented at NSO and enhanced in the future to include data from future censuses and other sources. This product will allow NSO to provide its clients with barangay information at less cost and in much less time.
