Description
Summary:Iloilo Citty Development Bank (ICDB) was founded in 1962, intended to provide capital and credit that could be offered to small and medium scale entrepreneurs and producers in the rural areas. Since then, ICDB's business environment has also been changing. As a bank, it is part of a bigger service sector which includes other non-bank players. On another level, it is part of the Philippine banking industry that has undergone many changes, such as mergers and sonsolidations, as well as being a key sector successful with the use of information technology. ICDB also exists as a corporate citizen in the province of Iloilo, which has been undergoing development though not as fast as Cebu, Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro or Davao. Within Iloilo, there is also a banking industry which is a key component for the province's growth. ICDB in the current scenario will not be able to survive in the medium term, given the industry analysis and internal analysis. The bank has the advantage of size in being able to respond quickly to client needs and developing client relationship although these are not the advantages in the medium term. It should be able to position itself effectively as an axpert SMEs. To do this, it will have to realign its current chain and to adopt some other policies. As an SME ecpert , the bank will also have to position itself in other key growth areas in the province of Iloilo. To also meet its clients' needs (specifically remittances), it will have to tie -up with other banks who have this expertise. The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) also pays a key role in its regulation of the banking industry, effectively influencing ICDB's direction.
